Rainy Mondays and PB&J's

Hello on this rainy Monday!  Originally, today was supposed to be 58 degrees and I had dreams of going on a walk with my son and getting out of the house.  Which is a fabulous ordeal for Will.  He loves being outside and is so sick of winter.  But alas, it's pouring.  And cold.  So instead we'll stay inside today and eat pb and j's(his new fave) and watch Dora.  I know.  You are all jealous.  I tried to take a picture of Will today... this is how it turned out:

I feel like it's a celebrity-paparazzi-stop-taking-my-picture picture:) ha.

Happy Monday, everyone!

Funk.

So, yesterday... I was in a funk.  Like a deep funk.  It was a combination of things, really.  I didn't get enough sleep, the woman at the post office was mean to me, I thought I had filled out all the forms possible on something I'm getting done just to find that I have to give them a million more forms.  Plus a blood sample.  Plus my kidney.  Ok, I'm kidding about the sample and kidney.  I think.

And then, I got our new business cards in and some pictures that I had printed off.  And got to spend the rest of the evening with my fabulous husband and son.  Seriously, I don't know what I would do without them.  They are the daily glue that holds my life together, my biggest encouragers, and the people who forces me to have fun when I'm stressing enough for my head to explode.  Too visual?

And just because pictures make blog posts a million times better...

I'm going to be really honest with you people... I'm guessing about a good 98% of this blog's pictures will be on Will.  Sorry.  The only thing I can tell you is good thing I have an adorable child.  :)

Jasmine Star

This past week, I finally decided to buy Jasmine's Star wedding photography course off of CreativeLive.  Let me tell you... it's blowing my mind!  I feel like I have so much to learn.  I find Jasmine Star really inspirational because she started shooting in 2006 and shot three weddings.  And then in 2007, her business blew up and she shot well over thirty weddings.  She hasn't looked back since.  Now she's an international wedding photography.  Crazy, right?  In such a short amount of time, she's accomplished so much.  Oh well, I guess we'll get there some day:)

The photo is off Jasmine's blog.  If you haven't read it, it's pretty life changing.  The information on it, once again, is mind blowing.  At least to me:)

Will.i.am

I have the cutest baby toddler in the world.  He's so happy, but he's still has sass.  He has a million different faces.  He's loves loves loves Dora.  Now that it's winter and we can't go outside too much, he's started watching cartoons for an hour a day.  And his favorite is Dora the Explorer.  He watches it everyday but still acts like it's the first time he's watched it.  And when I say 'watch', I really mean he runs around and just comes in for the songs.  The backpack one is his favorite.  I cannot imagine my life without him... He's my inspiration to be a better person.

Valentine's!

Happy Valentine's Day!  I love Valentine's day.  When I was little, my father would always come home from work on Valentine's day and he would have a small heart box of chocolates for my sister and I.

My husband and I are having a quiet Valentine's this year... Just spending the evening together with our son.  I can't imagine spending it any other way.

Family

When I was younger, I used to love love love when my parents would get together with my dad's brother and his wife.  They had a daughter that was just one year older than me so I always had so much fun with her.  Growing up, we went to the same college, lived together for a little bit, she was in my wedding, and was there when my son was born.

Being older, I realize more than ever the importance of family.  So, when my sister is in town, I always jump at a chance for a play date between my son and her two kids.  Her youngest, Seth and my son Will are only twelve days apart.  I can't wait to see what their life holds in store for them and see the role that they play in each other's lives.

Winter Blues...

For the past week or so, Robby and I have been sick.  And not just a little 'there's-a-tickle-in-my-throat' sick.  We've had the flu.  So for the past week, we've been coughing and sneezing all over our house, we've had sore throats and headaches, and absolutely NO energy.

Today, I thought I would attempt to go back to the gym.  It's been since last week.  And I thought that perhaps it would give me some energy back.  Nope.   It's 9:20 and I've been aching to go to bed for hours.  So, here's to hoping that tomorrow will be a new day and we'll feel more like ourselves!

The New Beginning

So here begins an online journal of where I’m headed. I need to document the detours and pit stops along this scary and amazing photographic path. I’m writing to never forget the beginnings of our future and to celebrate the mistakes—I’ve always maintained that making a mistake sooner, rather than later, is always a good thing.

Yes, we've been shooting for three years.  So why did I say this blog is documenting the beginning?  Because this year, we've decided to put ourselves "out there" more.  For the past three years that Robby and I have been shooting together, every. single. job. has been word of mouth.  And surprisingly(to me, at least:), we've consistently doubled our work every year.  This past year however, I really found my love for photography.  I've always enjoyed it, but this past year... I had a revelation.  "I could do this.  Full-time.  Like a job!"  Yes, this is my uber cool and not at all embarrassing revelation.

So this blog will help document the highs and lows of my not so beginning beginning in photography.  I've been throwing myself into blogs to see how all these photographers that I looove got their start, their marketing, their branding.  I've been pouring over images by the thousands.  And all the while, taking care of a very active 18 month old.

This. could. be. interesting.
